Whether worn for function or for fashion, a well-made leather belt can last a lifetime. Let's find out together how they are made.

Step 1: Material

First of all, the craftsman chooses with what type of material to use. Leather is the most common one to which treatments are made to harden it and make it thicker; it can also be aged and pressed to bring out some reliefs.

Step 2: Measurements

Then a strip of leather is cut according to the desired length and thickness.

The length, however, serves to connect, not to determine the measures. Among the seven holes made with the punching pliers, the fourth one should be used, while if there are only five, the third hole is the right one.

Contrary to popular belief, the belt should not go one and a half rounds of the waist, as it would be too long for the person's size.

Step 3: Extremity
